I'm amazed that such travesty was allowed to happen. How much longer will man continue to destroy our very world? Till the damage becomes irreversible? Or have we already reached that stage?
The CNA headlines for 'Asia Pacific', 'World' and 'Business' sections for today are about Protests in Thailand; Militant attacks in Pakistan; Flooded coal mine in China; Suicide bomber attacks in Russia; Major earthquake in Mexico; Bombings on embassies in Iraq; Potential boycott of iron ore suppliers in China; Increasing oil prices; Executions over failed currency reforms in N.Korea... Sadly, nothing particularly pleasant unless you're a terrorist.
Despite all the advances in technology and global cooperation, perhaps the world isn't heading to a future as nice as we hope it will be. The contrary seems more likely metinks, and I fear it comes a time when my children will have to live in a bleak world of physical struggles. Singapore has been pretty blessed so far, but the ripples of disaster knows no boundaries.
With all the changes of the world, at least we can take solace in the fact that God does not change. He remains the same, from the beginning of time till its end. Despite the adversities we may face and the losses we may incur, we should always trust in God - as Job did. If we are able to emerge from the trials given to us, we shall be refined as gold. Also take comfort in the fact that God will never give us trials we are not able to handle. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and blessings shall be added onto you.
