10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
What kind of person should we strive to be in this world? To phrase it in another way, what purpose does our life have?
As christians we ultimately live for God, recognising that life in this world is transient. Material possesions, worldly accomplishments, and even memories are but items which can be easily snatched away. We arrived with nothing from birth, and we leave with nothing.
They say change is the only constant, but so is God.
But even as christians who know the reason for our lives, many are still lacking in desire to serve the Lord to the best they can. Since sin befell, man has been putting himself before God.. Even till today many still struggle with this. As such, we can only pray for strength and strive to be in his service... God will listen to our prayers, as we are His beloved children.
