I recall primary school, when the number of non-chinese friends made up half of my circle. In fact, my best friend during the lower primary's was a malay! These days, my main circle of friends are made up of Singaporean chinese, with the occasional non-chinese passing by in my life every now and then.. Perhaps it is because we form the majority. While I definitely do not mind the company of other races, there is a strong culture barrier that discourages us from forming closer relationships, just as how chinese with different upbringing may have difficulty understanding each other.
